ILES, HENRY - (abt 1749-1814) Reported to have been born in England. He was a Hessian soldier and was taken prisoner.

He was a tailor. Married abt. 1782, Mary M. Stine (abt 1764 d 1832) of Pa. (History of Hocking Valley - page 961.) They arrived Bennington Township, Licking County, OH before 1808. He bought 168 acres. They had eight sons and 2 daughters. All well documented in Licking and Hocking Counties. In 1838, son Henry founded tiny hamlet of Ilesboro a few miles south of Logan, Ohio. Hasn't changed much since then.

We find a Johann Heinrich Eyle of Company 2, Knyphausen Regt who was a prisoner, but we have not been able to connect him with our Henry. Another spelling might be Ehle.
